Stewart Goudie has been Parish Minister for the North West Lochaber parish in Lochaber Presbytery since September 2018. Prior to that he was ordained into full-time ministry at the Melness and Tongue parish in Sutherland in August 2010. After a year at Melness and Tongue he served on the Presbytery’s Business Committee, latterly as Convener. He was appointed Presbytery Clerk from the beginning of 2015 until standing down at the end of 2017. He became Clerk to Lochaber Presbytery in December 2021 and continued until the end of 2023.

Stewart joined the Church of Scotland as a teenager in Liberton Kirk in Edinburgh, and became a committed Christian in 1981, and a church elder in 1984 aged 27. In 2005, Stewart started training for Ministry, studying for his BD at New College. He served his Final Ministry Training Placement in Winchburgh and the surrounding areas, and then as a Locum Minister for 5 months in Armadale, West Lothian, before his ordination in Sutherland.

He obtained a First-Class Honours MSc in Electronics and Electrical Engineering in June 1979.

Prior to training for Ministry, Stewart worked as an electronics design engineer in a Radar Systems company for 5 years, then in a Hard Disk Drive company for 3 years, then in experimental military avionics for 5 years. Finally, from 1994 until 2005, Stewart worked in a series of startup electronics companies, based in Dalkeith, and also spending time in Taiwan, and St. Petersburg in Russia.

Stewart married his wife Liz in 1978 and they have three adult children in Edinburgh, with three grandsons, aged 8 and 5 years, and the most recent aged 4 months.
